Maria Bienkowska-Kopczynska (born 1951). Painter, graphic artist. Graduate of the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. In 1980 she received an award from the Minister of Culture and Art for her diploma work inspired by the poetry of Bolesław Leśmian. She is currently engaged in easel painting, for which she received the 1998 Miyauchi Prize of the Poland-Japan Foundation. Compositions poetically alluding to nature often make up cycles: Carrara-Stones of Light, Fjords, Brittany Paths, Seas. Her works have been presented in more than twenty solo exhibitions and dozens of group exhibitions in Poland, European countries and Japan.
