Biography
Stanislaw Dobiasz was born in Głuchów, but in early childhood his family moved to Warsaw. With the capital the future artist tied his entire life. There he acquired the profession of a locksmith, which after World War II he probably used when working on the reconstruction of the destroyed city. Given his learned profession, it is not surprising that in his amateur artistic activity he was involved in metalwork, and also in painting, sculpture or even literary works. Confirmation of the interest in his versatile talents can be found in a 1984 documentary film entitled "Seven Faces of Locksmith Dobias." His works on a variety of subjects combine both the naive view of the world characteristic of non-professional artists and some elements of processed avant-garde art.
