Biography
He initially studied at the School of Decorative Arts in Poznań. He continued his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in the studios of M. and M. Kotarbiński and under W. Skoczylas. He made his debut at an exhibition organized by the Association of Graphic Artists and Engravers. During the early years of his career, he devoted himself primarily to woodcut printing. He traveled extensively, visiting China, Mexico, Brazil, India, and various European countries. His travels inspired artistic series of drawings depicting the countries he visited—their landscapes, nature, and the people living there. He employed an exceptionally concise, economical line, resulting in drawings with a very strong, clear expression. He was a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.
