Henryk Ożóg was born in 1956. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków under the supervision of Mieczysław Wejman. He completed his diploma project in the Copperplate Engraving Studio in 1981. Since 2002, he has headed the Intaglio Studio at the Department of Graphic Arts at his alma mater. From 2002 to 2008, he served as Associate Dean of the Department of Graphic Arts. In 2008, he became Head of the Department of Printmaking at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. He works in printmaking and painting. He most often employs printmaking techniques that utilize a metal matrix. He creates mainly abstract compositions.
These include both arrangements of unidentified shapes and lines as well as surprising combinations of everyday objects and the multiplied and transformed human figure. The artist has participated in over 300 solo and group exhibitions. He has exhibited his works in Sweden, Germany, France, and the United States. He is the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including: the Purchase Prize at the International Centre of Graphic Arts (Ljubljana, 1991), the Purchase Prize Award at the International Print Exhibit (Gilkey Center for Graphic Arts, Portland, 1997), and the Grand Prix Award at the 7th Polish Graphic Arts Triennial (Katowice, 2009).
